Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which the activation of one sense (sight, hearing, etc) produces a reaction in another unrelated sense. Some people with this condition experience sound as an array of colours and shapes, while others listening to the same piece of music might have a tactile experience in response. Though the forms Synesthesia take are varied, they always involve a sensory crossover of some kind.
